Most Horrible Characters
Rattata is a Normal type Pokémon and is known as the Mouse Pokémon. Rattata is irritating with its mocking character by occasionally growling at you and also produces a fart like noise that can be a bit of a nuisance.
Charizards are noble and will not turn the full power of their flame on opponents significantly weaker than they are. Charizards are also known to be very eager to battle. They can be very dangerous and aggressive if provoked. But like Charmander and Charmeleon, it is friendly and affectionate with its trainer.
There are many other characters that can be created other than a dragon, but why this? It’s been overused. Certainly, there are other wondrous characters that you can pick. And, if you really want a dragon, there are some other dragon like-characters that you can probably choose.
Magikarp is the most common Pokémon in the waters of all the Pokémon regions. It is considered to be the weakest Pokémon because it can only use three moves. The way to tell a male and female Margikarp apart is that a male Magikarp has gold whiskers whilst a female has white whiskers.
This dull fish collapses when it’s not in the water. It’s common and not cool. Right?
Diglett can have the ability Sand Veil or the ability Arena Trap. Sand Veil increases Diglett’s evasiveness when a Sandstorm is out. Arena Trap prevents any Pokémon from escaping it in battle. Diglett are proficient diggers and can dig quickly.
It is half buried in the earth and what you only see is the head. And, if you expose it to the sun, it gets weaker and weaker. Not a very strong Pokémon.
It’s like an imitation of Pikachu, though it evolves from Pikachu. So why not opt for the original Pikachu, if you have a choice. Pikachu is way cuter than Raichu, so definitely go for Pikachu over this.
Raichu has the ability Static and the hidden ability Lightning Rod. Static allows Raichu to paralyze its foe when making a physical move. Lightning Rod allows Raichu to draw in all Electric-type attacks.
She bears a resemblance to a cobra (and yes we said she) with the majority of her body being purple. Arbok has a “hood” much like a cobra.
Its face is insanely confusing. It surely has two evil resembling looks.
This Pokémon is extremely territorial. Arbok are known to be vengeful and are absolutely ruthless in pursuing anyone or thing that angers them. Just to point out Arbok is Kobra spelt backwards lol.
When on the ground, Pidgey flaps its wings to kick up sand and dust that blinds its opponents.
If you want a Pidgey, you better raise a real bird instead. Pidgey is extremely common.
Koffing is a Poison Gas Pokémon. Its body is cloud-shaped with a skull and crossbones on the lower parts of its body. It has openings that allow gases to escape. A Koffing will spew a harmless gas if it is happy and a poisonous gas if it is angry.
It’s like a toxic gas sprayer lol. Not cool at all!
An evolved Pokémon from Exeggcute (eggs). Who would think that from being an egg, it will evolve into a coconut-like tree?
Exeggutors have the ability Chlorophyll. This causes Exeggutor’s Speed to rise when it is sunny. If a head grows too big, it falls off and becomes an Exeggcute. It is known as the ‘Walking Jungle’.
You wouldn’t believe that it evolves into coconut-tree-like-egg or egg-like-coconut-tree. Perplexing right? Exeggcute evolves into Exeggutor by use of a Leaf Stone.
Exeggcute always gather in groups of six, so as to use their special type of telepathy. Their Psychic-type status allows them to use a number of psychic abilities along with their Grass-type moves. As seen in the anime, Exeggcute are quite proficient with the move Hypnosis.
This is Arbok when it’s still young. Ekans, like real snakes, have the ability to unhinge their jaws, giving them the ability to swallow prey whole such as Pidgey, Spearow or their eggs. Ekans also share other characteristics with snakes, such as using its tongue to test the air for the presence of prey and shedding its skin. An Ekans will lose its rattle once it evolves into Arbok. Just to mention Ekans is Snake spelt backwards.
Do you want to see the toxic gas sprayer evolve? Here it is, the two-headed Koffing.
Weezing is a masculine Poison Gas Pokémon. He is a two-headed, purple Pokémon. They often have gases around them because they are so toxic. The biggest head has a skull and crossbones on his chest. His mid-sized head only has a circle. Apparently, they can also have three heads according to the DPP Pokédex, possibly a deformed conjoined circle between the two.
Jynx can have the ability Oblivious or the ability Forewarn – Oblivious grants Jynx immunity to infatuation and Forewarn allows Jynx to identify the opponent’s move with the highest attack power.
Other than some people say that they don’t like its color, Jynx makes the enemy sleep with its rhythmic dance. So? Jynx is a dancing humanoid Pokémon character. A tad dull!
Vey common because it appears everywhere and is extremely boring! Paras evolves into Parasect.
Paras can have the ability Effect Spore or Dry Skin. Effect Spore makes the foe paralyzed, asleep or poisoned 30% of the time whenever the foe hits Paras with a physical move. Dry Skin causes Paras to recover HP when it is raining and lose HP when it is sunny. The mushrooms on Paras’ back have a mutualism with each other. The mushrooms get energy from Paras, while Paras gets to create spores.
A psychic type of Pokémon that always brings a pendulum, which it uses for hypnotism. Not equable compared to the other amazing Pokémon!
Seeing its sweeping pendulum can induce sleep in three seconds, even in someone who just woke up. Hypno have both the abilities Forewarn and Insomnia. Insomnia will prevent the user from falling asleep while Forewarn will show the attack of an opponent with the highest attack power.
This list is not in any order and some may disagree with it but hey, it’s a game and we have tried to put forward the opinion of many other Pokémon Go players.
Ok, now let’s take a look at some of the better Pokémon out there.
Incredibly Cool Characters
Who wouldn’t want to have a Pikachu? It’s the symbol of the game. Other than that it’s very cute and cool, Pikachu is a great starter.
Pikachu’s special ability is Static, which can cause paralysis in battle if hit by a physical move. In Pokémon Black and White’s Dream World, the Trainer receives a Pikachu with the Lightningrod ability. Pikachu are capable of learning Volt Tackle, a powerful Electric-type physical move exclusive to the Pikachu family of Pokémon.
If you want a dragon, you should go for this. Its speed is shocking because it can revolve around the globe in sixteen hours. Imagine that?
All Dragonite have the ability Inner Focus that allows it to keep from flinching in a battle. They can also have Multiscale as an Hidden Ability, because Multiscale halves damage from any attack when the user is at full HP. Dragonite has become a common sight in competitive battling.
Like any man’s best friend, a pet dog, Arcanine can certainly be methodically, courageous and loyal to you. Arcanine have the abilities Flash Fire or Intimidate. Flash Fire activates when the user is hit with a fire-type move, allowing the user to become immune to fire damage, and raise the damage on any of its fire-type attacks. Intimidate will lower an opponents attack stat by one in battle. Arcanine is one of the fastest Pokémon in the world. It is said that it can travel up to 6200 miles in one day and night. Arcanine can also carry its trainer on its back and scout the seven-seas in less than 3 days. It can learn powerful attacks like Flare Blitz, Extreme Speed, and Thunder Fang.
Its shell can be very useful during fights. Squirtle also has the natural ability to shoot water from its mouth, which is where the bulk of its attacks comes from. Its shell is highly sturdy, and could hide itself within its shell from physical attacks.
Cubone’s love for its mother is immeasurable. Imagine it crying overnight to mourn for its mother. Cubone can have the ability Rock Head or the ability Lightningrod. Rock Head prevents Cubone from receiving recoil damage. Lightningrod targets all Electric-type attacks towards Cubone. Cubone’s real face has never been seen before, thanks to its bone mask. When it thinks of its dead mother, it cries. Its crying makes the skull it wears rattle loudly.
Gradually, its legs strengthen and become faster through pursuing its parents. It’s also an attractive Pokémon.
Ponyta can have the ability Flash Fire or the ability Run Away. Flash Fire allows Ponyta to be immune to all Fire-type moves and increase its Attack if it is hit by these moves. Run Away allows Ponyta to run from all wild Pokémon battles. After birth, it is weak. However, as it runs, it gets stronger. It is known to run fast and jump high. Its hooves are harder than diamond and its legs are strong a durable; able to absorb the shock from taking high jumps. It allows humans to ride on its back occasionally. However, if angered, it may choose to burn its rider by igniting its back.
This awesome mammalian creature has a special character that it can adapt to any environment. Eevee can have either the ability Run Away or Adaptability. Run Away is an ability that will allow the user to run from any wild Pokémon battle, negating the effects of moves that prevent running away like mean look and block.
Eevee are Pokémon with unstable genetic codes. This gives them the ability to evolve into eight different evolutions triggered by the environment, time of day, or the usage of the evolutionary stones Water Stone, Thunderstone, and Fire Stone.
Though Clefairy is not proficient in fighting, its wing can stock moonlight and make it soar. You’ll be one of the luckiest Pokémon catchers if you see one Clefairy dancing in the moonlight. But this Pokémon is rare to find.
Vaporeon have the ability Water Absorb. This allows Vaporeon to absorb any Water-type moves and heal themselves. Vaporeon are highly adapted to aquatic life. Unlike its pre-evolution, it has the ability to breathe underwater. Vaporeon has the power to melt into water and disappear, and are shown to be able to manipulate water molecules.
You’ll sense that it’s Christmas when it flaps its wings, which produces falling snow lol. It is a freeze Pokemon with a hidden ability “snow cloak”. When Articuno flaps its wings, it freezes the moisture around it, causing a snowfall.
As evidence to its immense power, Mewtwo is by far one of the most domineering Pokémon.
This character is very rare to find, but if you encounter one, make sure to capture it. If you catch it, confidently, you’ll be one of the best players. Why? If it combines its attack powers it is then very hard to beat.
It is undeniably tough, and it has a strong attack and defense. With this, you’ll have more possibility of winning the battle. Pinsir can have the ability Hyper Cutter or the ability Mold Breaker. Hyper Cutter prevents reduction of Pinsir’s Attack stat. Mold Breaker allows Pinsir to use moves that would otherwise be non-effective because of an ability. A Pinsir’s horns can crush many objects and allow it to pick up extremely heavy things. They group up in the winter to keep warm.
Snorlax is a very large and fat bear-like Pokémon that has greyish-blue fur and an apricot-color underbelly. Its eyes are always closed, making it look as if it is sleeping.
This is another normal type with no clear natural habitat yet, and thus far it’s been rather unclear if there are any consistent places to find it, with most users reporting to have found Snorlax in completely random locations. This one might just be a luck of the draw. However, you should have better luck obtaining a Snorlax from an egg, specifically by hatching a 10km one.
One of our favorites. Snorlax is one of the most prevailing Pokémon – Go catch one!
Golem is a Rock/Ground type Pokémon known as the Megaton Pokémon. This rock type creature can be very helpful in fighting against the fire type Pokémon that you may encounter in the gyms.
Who wouldn’t want an awesome ultimate form of Squirtle? Though it’s unusual to find, you can possibly capture one in the wild.
Blastoise, like Wartortle and Squirtle, can naturally shoot water, though not from its mouth, but from its large cannons. These cannons allow water to be shot at much greater force, which leaves them the backing force of all water attacks.
There! Our list is complete. We hope you find it useful and to your liking. There are about 151 Pokémon and everyone has his or her favorites so if your worst and best Pokémon are not included in the list then maybe submit a comment below and maybe we can shuffle this list around.
Preparing Before The Gym Setting
We already gave you an idea on which characters are best to keep. Now, let us guide you on what to do before stepping into a gym for a fight.
You got your gym clothes on? Let’s get you ready and fit for the coming battles.
Do Your Best To Level Up
It could be tiring for you to wait around to gain experience points, its time consuming. However, leveling up will give you amazing results; the strength of the character you acquire will be better than its original state.
Yes, as we’ve said, it could be a bit dull; so for a start-up, even if your bag is packed with many items, visit every Pokéstop. For this, you’ll get 50XP every time you hit one. And, every time you see a Pokémon, capture them because you’ll get a minimum of 100XP when you perfectly catch them. Also, make sure to use lucky eggs if you’re using bait or some eggs are about to hatch. With this, you’ll get double XP points.
Go For The Smallest Ring
When using your Pokéball to catch a Pokémon, try to touchdown at the smallest circle. Why? You can earn more XP points. Hitting the smallest circle is having a bigger possibility of capturing the Pokémon.
Use A Curveball
Using a curveball for a capture is not just having more chances of getting the Pokémon, but it will also give an extra 10XP.
You can use several techniques in throwing a curveball. One is to create a small ring on the screen with the ball when freeing it, or just make a curve throw on the screen first, then release it. As for the experienced players, you can possibly combine the curveball with the smallest circle.
Sure, it’s a little hard for the beginners, but you can absolutely do it. Just ensure to have a lot of balls in hand before trying it.
Power Up First
Why don’t you try to get a starting character with sufficient combat power or CP first? When you are done, you can now evolve the Pokémon. Now, you have a stronger starting Pokémon.
One more tip, it is cheaper to power them up using candy and stardust before evolving them.
Look For Your Match Before The Battle
There are various classes of Pokémon that counterbalance each other in a battle, based on what they can do. For example, some Pokémon can be immune to certain attacks. When you attack a vulnerable Pokémon, you can injure it twice as much as compared to normal state Pokémon. But, there are Pokémon that have got used to some attacks. Due to this, it will be wise to check which Pokémon are in the gym before battling against them.
Be Aware Of The Rival’s CP
It is possible to defeat a Pokémon with higher combat power (CP), assuming that you are lucky, but always keep in mind that players are also more likely to win if they have more CP. Therefore fight the ones that have the same CP as yours or the ones that are weaker.
Deliver Quick Taps And Swipes
When in a battle, the way you tap and swipe to knock off the enemy could help if it’s at the right time. Correct timing and motion will definitely help you win your battles. Plus, you can use the attack bar for a special attack, considering that it is full. Now, be vigilant, fast and win your games!
Gain Pokécoins By Holding Gyms
One way to get Pokécoins is through buying them with real money, but you can also get them through holding gyms.
Yes! You have read it right, so when you have enough money by holding gym, try to upgrade your Pokémon storage or even buy a bag. Through a bigger bag, it will let you carry more items such as lures, potions, lucky eggs, razzberries, Pokéballs, and incense.
